Getting started

Quick start

  1. Open the page. The orrery shows the sky of the day and the sign of the day.
  2. Type a ticker. The arms turn at least once and stop at that ticker's houses.
  3. Read the list. Six bodies, their houses, the aspects and one thing to avoid.
  4. Save the sky map. A round 1000 × 1300 PNG.
import { read } from "https://orrerysky.vercel.app/lib/orrery.js";

read(null, "2026-10-24").sign; // "The Ape", the sign of that day
read("FROG", "2026-10-24").sign; // "The Bell"
read("ORRERY").grand; // true

The rule

  1. Seed. FNV-1a of orr:, the UTC date and, for a ticker, : plus the ticker. Into mulberry32.
  2. Angles. Six numbers, six angles from 0° to 360°, Mercury first.
  3. Houses. Angle divided by 30, rounded down.
  4. Then. The text of each aspect, the rising house, the thing to avoid, in that order.
  5. Exception. ORRERY places its six bodies from 246° to 263.5°, all in Diamond Hands.

Limits

  • Not astronomy. The angles come from a hash, not the real sky.
  • UTC. The day turns at midnight UTC.
  • Runs in the browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

FAQ

Why is the alignment in Diamond Hands?

Because that is where the brass room keeps its coin.

Can I read a past day?

Yes, with read(ticker, "YYYY-MM-DD") in code.
